2013 NACLNC® Conference Cruise Update – Day 4: NACLNC® Jamaica Me Crazy Mon

Today we’re docked in Falmouth, Jamaica. I’m in search of the tracks of Bob Marley for some serious reggae music. Courtesy of Tom, here are a couple of interesting historical notes: From the 1780s to the 1830s Falmouth was one of the island’s busiest ports and the heart of this sugar industry. 1838 saw the Emancipation of slavery in Jamaica, which changed the island forever.

If you want some mild exercise, you can take a terrific walking tour of historic Falmouth and visit Southby House, see examples of the board houses which were “chattel houses” of emancipated slaves and walk the restored Albert George Market. After the tour and history lesson you can head back onboard to spend some quality time in the ship’s spa.

If you’re a more daring CLNC® consultant, you can choose to head to the amazing Dunn’s River Falls to climb the 600 ft cascades. On the way you can stop at Discovery Bay and see where Christopher Columbus landed in 1494.

After a long day ashore, remember that our special NACLNC® event of the evening is the AquaTheater Show at 7:30pm.

After the show we’ve got another fabulous Networking Dinner.

I better get rested for the tequila shots (not those sissy sugar shots the speakers like) tonight at the NACLNC® Networking Dinner. All the VMI staff brought their own NACLNC® shot glasses so bring it on, we’re ready!

More tomorrow!
