The Day of the CLNC® Exam

Admission to the Test Site

No admission tickets are issued for test appointments at Prometric Testing Centers or Sylvan Technology Centers.

You are responsible for arriving at the test center 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. If traveling to an unfamiliar area, allow enough travel time to locate the testing facility.

You have 90 days from the date of your notice of eligibility in which to take the CLNC® Exam. If you do not take the exam within that period, you forfeit all testing fees. Test appointments may be made Monday through Saturday (except on certain holidays) based on availability.

Upon arrival at the appointed time, you must provide the following information to check in:

/gfx/cer_ding.gif A government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, etc.) which contains your signature
/gfx/cer_ding.gif Your active RN license

If you do not meet these check-in requirements, you will not be admitted to the test site and you will forfeit your testing rights. Candidates who are no-shows, who are more than 15 minutes late or who are refused entry due to lack of proper identification must pay an additional $150 fee to Vickie Milazzo Institute prior to taking the exam at a future date.

Upon check-in at the Prometric Testing Center, you will be escorted to a computer and will be allowed to take a tutorial about using the computer. The time required to take the tutorial will not be deducted from the allotted examination time. Books, calculators, papers or other reference materials are not permitted in the examination room.

Taking the CLNC® Exam

Once you are ready to start the test, 2 hours are allotted for the examination itself. You should answer each question to the best of your ability. After answering all the questions, you can review your exam and change any responses. The review process is straightforward and is explained clearly on the computer.

After completing this review, quitting the exam is a simple process. If time permits, you will be asked to answer a short computer-based survey about your testing experience. Your exam results will be posted on the computer screen immediately after you complete the exam. You will also receive a printed score report verifying the date you took the examination. You are then free to leave. Within six weeks, your certification packet will be mailed to you.
